Can I use HVO in my vehicle?
PeakHVO works seamlessly in all modern diesel engines. HVO is commonly used in buses, commercial boilers, agricultural tractors & machinery, boats & vessels operating within land waterways, portable generators at events, construction equipment, industrial trucks & tankers.
Can I put HVO straight into my car/truck?
PeakHVO enables fleets to switch to a cleaner fuel overnight without making any additional investments or modifications. Simply top up and go!
Do I need to make any changes to my vehicle before I can use HVO?
Engine or plant modification are not required, users can just fill up and go!
Can I use normal diesel after using HVO?
PeakHVO is completely interchangeable and compatible with regular diesel.
Do I have to clean the fuel tank out before or after I have put HVO in?
PeakHVO can be blended with standard diesel products. There is no need to run down a tank’s contents or drain existing products before use.
HVO is a clean burning fuel, shouldn’t it be carbon free?
PeakHVO currently boasts over 90% Net CO2 reduction from cradle to tail pipe. It is a clean burning fuel, but the carbon required to transport and refine HVO is included in this calculation.
Does HVO compromise performance?
PeakHVO often outperforms both conventional biodiesel and fossil diesel in terms of engine performance (MPG) and environmental impact. It also boasts excellent cold-weather performance. Its higher cetane number (up to 90) and low cloud point (-32oC) means there are no concerns over performance through the winter compared with traditional forms of biodiesel.
What is HVO made from?
PeakHVO is synthetically made through the hydrotreatment process from vegetable oils, grease waste or residue from food industry and agriculture. These 100% renewable raw materials can be regrown when stock is needed, making it a sustainable fuel.
Does HVO have an unpleasant smell?
PeakHVO is a second generation biofuel that overcomes the problems associated with traditional biodiesel (FAME), which had an unpleasant odour.
Where can I fill up with HVO?
Peak Oil is proud to have the first retail pump of HVO in the U.K, based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Find out more at PeakHVO at the pump.
I want a low carbon transport option, how does HVO compare to electric cars?
We understand that the government plans to phase out the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2035 and to encourage consumers to move to electric cars. This requires enormous investment both to help consumers overcome the upfront cost of an electric car and to implement the infrastructure required to make them a workable option. The batteries used in electric cars also cause environmental concerns. Solutions to these problems are being sought and greener fuels, such as PeakHVO, are increasingly being employed as a part of the solution. PeakHVO offers an easy way to lower traffic emissions and increase the proportion of renewable energy used in transport without the need of further investment. It is a clean burning, renewable and sustainable fuel; which is available now to work alongside and in conjunction with the electric future.
